The Australian Iranian Community Council (AICC) is deeply concerned and stands firmly for the protection of peaceful protesters in Iran who face the threat of execution after being denied access to their preferred legal representatives and a fair, transparent trial. Many detainees are subjected to severe physical and psychological pressure, including forced confessions, which are used to justify harsh sentences and intimidate others who are simply calling for basic human rights. We encourage you to continue reading this page to learn how you can support efforts to protect those at risk and help amplify their voices.
Urgent Action to Prevent Executions in Iran
Protecting the Right to Life: Standing Against the Execution of Children and Protesters in Iran
The Australian Iranian Community Council (AICC) condemns the execution of children and protesters in Iran and calls for urgent international action to prevent further loss of life. At least 30 individuals, including children, face imminent execution after torture‑tainted interrogations, forced confessions, and grossly unfair trials.
Several of those sentenced to death were under 18 at the time of arrest, a direct violation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, to which Iran is a signatory.
Those at risk include:
- Erfan Amiri, 17
- Matin Mohammadi, 17
- Ehsan Hosseinipour (arrested at 17)
- Saleh Mohammadi, 18
- Mohammad Amin Biglari, 19
These young people were denied legal representation, subjected to torture, and convicted on coerced confessions.
Others Facing Imminent Execution
In addition to minors, several adults are also at risk:
- Ali Fahim
- Abolfazl Salehi Siavashani
- Amirhossein Hatami
- Shahin Vahedparast Kolor
- Shahab Zohdi
- Yaser Rajaifar
- Maryam Hodavand (40), mother of two
Many families have been threatened into silence, and information is tightly restricted.
Why This Matters
- Executing children is prohibited under international law.
- Forced confessions obtained under torture invalidate any judicial process.
- Executions carried out after unfair trials constitute state‑sanctioned human‑rights violations.
- International pressure has historically saved lives in similar cases.
AICC believes that every life is valuable and that justice must never be used as a tool of intimidation or repression.
